I departed the Philippines June 15th 1964
enroute to Germany Assignment. Due to Secretary Of Defense
McNamara's many changes, service personnel could not take leave
while traveling from one overseas assignment to another. Thus I
traveled to Vietnam, Thailand, India, Pakistan,
Spain and Germany. It was a KC135 to Spain (shortly after watching
one crash at Clark AFB - killing 77 personnel), a C47 "Gooney Bird"
from Spain to Bitburg Germany and a staff car to Wiesbaden with
a driver that never heard of the 7100AP Sqdrn. He could only gets us
to the AFEX Warehouse Area in Mainz-Kastel a suburb of
Wiesbaden. After a few phone calls the Air Police came and rescued
us. I worked this storage area many a night with my K-9
companion Prince 323H. Several years later I returned to
Thailand.
