The joining of the Rhine
and Mossel Rivers takes place at this junction. On top of the cliff
sits an old 18th Century Fortress that guarded this important spot.
A WWI War Memorial sits on this point for Kaiser Wilhelm. One spent
many off duty days traveling up and down both of these rivers
enjoying the many beautiful sites and festivals (Beer & Wine)
that took place in the small towns located on its shores. Fine
German wines were grown on both rivers and one sampled the different
varieties. Photo was taken from Fortress looking down on the river
junction: Rhine River in foreground and Mossel coming in from the
top.
