Stationed at
Francis E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne Wyoming January 1980
To October 1982 - 90th
Security Police Squadron, 90th Security Police Group
I was at the end of my 20
year career in the USAF.
Arrived and was initially assigned to
Campers 88th MMS but before I could get signed in, I was transferred
downstairs to the 90 SPS and told that as the ranking TSgt in the
90th Group, I would be taking over the duties of Base Security
Superintendent - which was overall command of four (4)
Security Flights in the Weapons Storage Area (WSA). These were
a great bunch of troops and they worked hard for me which showed in
our Inspection Ratings. They earned and deserved ever bit
of recognition given to the 90th SP Group in ORI's, DNA (Defense
Nuclear Agency Inspection) and Best Large Security Police Unit for
15th AF, SAC and USAF.

1. There are few times in a man’s career
when he is required to put into practice all the years of training
and experience that he has endured. You faced the
ultimate peacetime test from 14 — 22 October 1980, in the form of
the no-notice HQ SAC Operational Readiness Inspection. The 90th
Security Police Squadron received the previously unheard of rating
of “overall Excellent” as a result of this
inspection.
2. The credit for this rating is directly attributable
to your professionalism, dedication to duty and job knowledge.
Moreover, this was not the accomplishment of a single person but
rather a team effort. Each and every person in this Squadron has
just cause to feel very proud of this unique accomplishment.
3.
The attached certificate is presented to you as a symbol of our
appreciation for your professional actions during this inspection.
Please accept my sincere thanks for a tough job well
done.

1. The 90th Security
Police Group has recently been named as the Outstanding Large
Security Police Unit in SAC for 1980. In the message
announcing this award, General Ellis, CINCSAC, congratulated each of
us for obtaining this distinction. Next, we received the
rating of overall “Excellent” on the short—notice Defense Nuclear
Agency (DNA) Inspection. This was a real honor in that this
inspection team gives 48% unsatisfactory ratings in their
inspections. Furthermore, this was the first
“excellent” rating ever received by any Security Police from the
DNA.
2. These distinctions and accomplishments were made possible
as a direct result of your professionalism, dedication to duty and
espirit d’ corps. Your ability to meet the challenges of the
Security Police career field in the Strategic Air Command speak very
highly of you and we are very pleased that this unit is obtaining
the recognition that it deserves.
3. Once again, thank you for your hard work and hustle. It is
people like yourself who have made the United
States the most powerful country in
the world. Keep up this level of superior
achievement!

1. The
obtainment of the once in a career
recognition as a member of the “Outstanding Large Security Police

can be justifiably proud.
2. This
unparalleled distinction was obtained through your outstanding team

second place. I have never worked with a group of men and women who
conveyed total professionalism and commitment to excellence like you
do.
