146th PC
Ranger Company
The 405th AP K-9 Section had a very
well established working relationship with this unit commanded by
Lt. Laudemer Kahulugan. Many break days were spent in this units
base camp near the town of San Fernando.
Members of this unit would take K9
handlers to their home villages while on Military Leave and
introduce them to the many different cultural varieties.
Just
prior to the 1963 November elections, the 146th PC Rangers placed
Angeles City under martial law after raiding the homes of 12 Angeles
City policemen seizing 56 missing weapons believed to have been
involved in numerous "HUK" killings. They set-up their headquarters
in a school house on the edge of town on main highway going to
Manila. We (K9 handlers) would again spend our breaks living in the
school house with the men of this company. Angeles City was a major
nerve center for the Huk movement in Central Luzon during this time
period.
